The coronation of King Charles III at Hilgay Care Home, the anticipation was palpable as the staff and residents prepared for a party to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III on the 6th of May. The event was a small affair, with a buffet, but it was packed full of fun and excitement for everyone involved in our coronation party.
Preparing for the Big Day
The care home staff put in a lot of effort to make the coronation party a success. They decorated the lounge with balloons, streamers, and bunting in patriotic colours of red, white, and blue. There was a long table in the centre of the room, filled with delicious food, including sandwiches, sausage rolls, and cakes. The aroma of fresh tea, coffee and treats wafted through the air, making everyone’s mouths water with anticipation.
The Event
As the residents and their families arrived to our coronation party, the atmosphere was electric. Everyone was dressed in their best clothes, ready to celebrate the occasion. People were dressed in red, white and blue, with some even dressed particularly smart for the big occasion.
The coronation party kicked off with some traditional British music, which got everyone tapping their feet and singing along. After some music, it was time for the buffet. The staff had gone all out to ensure that there was something for everyone, and they had certainly succeeded. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty, the sausage rolls were hot and crispy, and the cakes were sweet and moist. There were also plenty of drinks to choose from, including tea, coffee, and soft drinks.
The residents and their families sat around the table, chatting and laughing as they enjoyed the delicious food. There were lots of stories being shared, memories being recalled, and new friendships being formed. It was beautiful to watch residents and their families chat and bond with each other on such a special afternoon.
As the coronation party continued, the music got louder, and then the dancing began. The staff had arranged a few games, which everyone enjoyed playing. There was a quiz about the Royal family, a game of bingo, as well as a game of charades. The residents and their families threw themselves into the games, laughing and joking as they competed against each other.
The highlight of the food was undoubtedly the coronation cake. The staff had baked a stunning cake, decorated with the British flag and a crown. It was a masterpiece, and everyone was eager to get a slice. The cake was cut, and the staff distributed the slices amongst the guests. The cake was sweet, moist, and delicious. This was the perfect way to cap off a wonderful coronation party.
The Coronation
The big moment finally arrived, and everyone gathered around to watch this historic moment. There was a real buzz of excitement and anticipation as we all watched King Charles take his place on the throne. The residents and staff were filled with pride and patriotism, and it was a truly unforgettable moment for everyone involved.
As the party drew to a close, there were hugs, kisses, and heartfelt thanks from the residents and their families. The staff had done an incredible job, and everyone had had a fantastic time. The party had been a great success, and it was a testament to the caring and loving community at Hilgay Care Home. It was a day we will never forget.
