October at our Residential Care Homes in Sussex

We love to keep busy at Hilgay Care Home. We believe that organising regular events and activities for our residents makes their time far more enjoyable and makes us one of the best residential care homes in Sussex.

October has been a very busy month! We’ve had plenty going on every week at our residential care home in Sussex, so we’ve put together this blog to fill you all in.

Our Macmillan Coffee Afternoon

Macmillan Coffee Afternoon

on the 15th of October, we hosted our very own Macmillan Coffee Afternoon. We had a cake table, raffle, bric-a-brac, and lots of other fun activities for our residents. It was a great afternoon and we managed to raise a fantastic amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support. This was a great opportunity to get together with the local community around our residential care home in Sussex, as well as our friends and families and raise money for an incredible charity. We would like to thank everyone who visited and donated their time and money to take part.

Pumpkin Carving

As we approached spooky season, we organised a pumpkin carving event on the 25th of October.   This was a great opportunity for our residents to get creative and have some fun. We had plenty of laughing and joking as we all got stuck into carving our pumpkins. We also held a competition to see who could create the best design, which was won by one of our lovely residents. This was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get together and flex their creative muscles!

Brass Band Visit

On the 30th of October, we were very lucky to be visited by the Mid Sussex Brass Band. They came and performed for us in the afternoon, which was a real treat. Our residents absolutely loved it and were tapping their feet along to the music. We would like to say a big thank you to the Mid Sussex Brass Band for taking the time to visit us and perform for us.

Weekly Events at Residential Care Homes in Sussex

Aside from organising big events, we have regular visits and activities each week. We are very lucky to welcome the Little Orchards Playgroup once a week, who come to visit our residents.  Our residents really enjoy spending time with the children and it’s a great opportunity for them to socialise. Additionally, we have our weekly knitting club every Wednesday. This is a great opportunity for our residents to socialise and make new friends, whilst also being productive and creative. This is particularly beneficial for our mental health in our residential care home in Sussex. Finally, every Friday, we have our weekly exercise class, run by Rebecca. This is a fantastic opportunity for our residents to stay active, socialise and have some fun.

We hope you have enjoyed reading about all the activities we have been up to this October at our residential care home in Sussex. If you would like to find out more about what we do or come and visit us, please do not hesitate to contact our team.
